Meet the Founder

It all started with me wanting to give more than $1 to the homeless.
In 2015, I began a new job in Downtown, Atlanta. The heart of the city where over 3,000 people slept under freeways, in abandoned buildings, on sidewalks, and in parks every night.
I encountered the homeless frequently and eventually began keeping singles in my pocket to give people. One day, I heard a voice in my head ask, "How far does a dollar really go? And how many more dollars will you give?" I pondered these questions for a while then in 2016, Jo-Anne's House, Inc. was given to me.
Providing hygiene items to homeless and at-risk individuals was the starting point.
Over time, as we worked closely with communities affected by homelessness, we began to see a deeper layer of need—we were assisting people who were not visibly homeless, but they did not have a place to call their own, they were in transition. Recognizing this gap inspired us to evolve our mission. While we remain deeply committed to supporting vulnerable populations, we realized that addressing the root causes of housing instability required more than immediate relief—it demanded long-term solutions.
Today, our mission is clear: to provide individuals facing housing instability with the tools they need—financial education, credit-building resources, and personalized support—to secure affordable housing and achieve homeownership.
This transformation reflects our unwavering belief in human potential. We know that when people are given the right tools and opportunities, they can overcome challenges and forge new beginnings.
As we look ahead, we invite you to join us on this journey of empowerment. Together, we can create a world where everyone has access to affordable housing and homeownership can become a reality for all.
