What We Do

We start by addressing the barriers to gaining permanent housing:
  • Credit Worthiness
  • Criminal Records
  • Workforce Empowerment
  • Affordable Housing
Implementation

Credit Worthiness

We address credit-related challenges and educate participants on the intricacies of the credit system through in-depth workshops. We offer an advanced financial literacy course, while voluntary, is highly recommended. It plays a critical role in enhancing financial well-being and unlocking exclusive benefits available through our partnerships. Participants are introduced to our banking partners, who provide customized financial products specifically designed for individuals transitioning out of homelessness.

Criminal Records

Our organization supports program participants in clearing their records by assisting with expungement or the sealing of eligible convictions where applicable. We collaborate with a network of attorneys who provide pro bono legal services to those in need.

Workforce Empowerment

We've teamed up with employers who are willing to offer on-the-job training and are open to hiring individuals with criminal records or employment gaps.

Affordable Housing

We work with community partners who are prepared to address housing needs once participants have met specific credit criteria and completed financial education. Our housing partners understand the distinct challenges faced by this population and are committed to assisting us in meeting housing goals.

Post-Implementation

Securing permanent housing is just the beginning. Participants are required to attend monthly financial counseling sessions to ensure they continue making progress toward their financial and personal goals. Rent payments are carefully tracked and reported to credit bureaus, helping participants build a positive credit history. Sixty (60) days after moving into their rental home, participants begin homebuyer education as the next phase in working toward homeownership. They are introduced to trusted lenders and together, we establish realistic timeframes for purchasing a home.

By collaborating with local governments, financial institutions, attorneys, housing providers, counselors, and lenders, we build a resource network that empowers individuals to achieve stability and success while strengthening community resilience. Together, we make stable housing, financial literacy, and homeownership accessible for all.
