2020 Year-End Review

It is not an overstatement, to sum up, this past year as one of extremes and unprecedented times. Jo-Anne's House began the year celebrating milestones, excited about the launch of new programs and new partnerships with community providers. Then along came covid. All events on the books were canceled, new programs postponed, and we hopped into covid relief crisis mode.

As covid-19 swept across the region at an alarming rate, I welcomed a sweet girl into the world. I was eager to reconnect with the community but quickly learned that no one was immune from the virus, so we veered on the side of safety and stayed away from crowds and public places.

As an organization, we aligned with the new need and redefined what helped looked like for us. Collective giving became our motto during this time. We partnered with local temporary shelters, day shelters, and outreach programs to supply PPE, hygiene products, water, snacks, and cleaning supplies to their facilities. And, through this collective effort, we were able to serve 1,500 people per month.

I am extremely proud of my team and their response to the call. To our supporters and partners, on behalf of all the lives you've touched this year, thank you.

We hope to expand our efforts to many many more next year.

With gratitude,

Ericka Cameron-Carr
