The City of Atlanta's Eviction Diversion Program launched in December 2023, to prevent homelessness and housing instability among low-income residents.
This month, the Atlanta City Council approved an additional $2 million in funding which is administered through the nonprofit Striving Together, Advancing Residents & Communities Corporation (Star-C). This funding is intended to help residents access safe and stable housing by providing financial assistance directly to landlords on behalf of tenants facing eviction.
Who do they assist?
- Residents aged 65 and older
- Single-parent families with children enrolled in the Atlanta Public Schools system
- Renters younger than 25 years old
Financial Assistance Break Down
Eligible households can receive up to $7,000 in rental assistance if they meet certain criteria:
- Must be experiencing financial hardship.
- Must reside within the city limits of Atlanta.
- Income must be at or below 60% of the area median income, which is approximately $43,000 for a (1) person household or $62,000 for a household of (4)
