Starter House, A Home for Black Trans Women Opens in Atlanta


The Ts Madison Starter House, a groundbreaking initiative, officially opened in Atlanta on March 31, 2025, coinciding with the 16th Annual Transgender Day of Visibility. This transitional home is specifically designed to support formerly incarcerated black transgender women as they reintegrate into society. The project is spearheaded by Ts Madison, a media mogul, LGBTQ+ advocate, and reality TV personality known for her work on The Ts Madison Experience and other platforms.

Program Breakdown 

Capacity and Structure:

    • The house accommodates up to five residents at a time.
    • Residents participate in a structured 90-day program tailored to their individual needs.
    • After completing the program, participants are not left unsupported; they gain access to a network of resources and community connections.

Holistic Services Offered:

    • Gender-affirming healthcare.
    • Mental health support and individualized therapy.
    • Job readiness programs and workforce development.
    • Leadership training aimed at fostering advocacy skills.
    • Nutrition education and healthy living guidance.

Stakeholder Model:

    • Residents are referred to as "stakeholders" to signify their active role in shaping their success as well as contributing to broader movements for Black queer and trans liberation.
