Nutrition & Homelessness - February's Outreach

We are all aware that homelessness forces a person to focus on day to day survival and simple luxuries such as a meal, can be out of reach. For the month of February, we examined the diet of a homeless person.

The city of Atlanta will ticket organizations and individuals feeding the homeless (without a permit) yet if you are homeless and do not receive government assistance, meals are really tough to come by. Most local pantries serve low income people NOT the poor and food pantries in the city require documentation to shop.

As an organization, we understand that systems must be in place however we have to find a middle ground between the tickets, documentation to shop, and individuals/organizations aiding. There has to be a better way ensure the hungry is fed and all parties are protected.
