Humane Society of NE GA Expands Support for Homeless Pet Owners

The Humane Society of Northeast Georgia (HSNEGA) has significantly expanded its programs to better serve homeless pet owners in the region. Many shelters and support services for homeless individuals often cannot accommodate pets. Recognizing this and the bond between individuals and their companions, HSNEGA has introduced new initiatives aimed at providing essential resources to ensure pets can remain with their owners while receiving necessary care.

Their mobile veterinary clinic will offer:

  • Increased access to veterinary care
  • Pet food and supplies
  • Vaccinations
  • Microchipping
  • Basic health check-ups

This proactive approach aims to overcome transportation barriers and provide care where it's most needed. HSNEGA is working to establish temporary fostering options for pets whose owners may need to access services that do not allow animals, such as medical treatments or temporary housing, with the goal of reunification.
