In 2020, the city of Atlanta set a goal to move 800 homeless people into their own apartments using covid relief funds. As of June 2021, 688 people have been housed. The housing queue numbers decreased in May and June but have risen in July largely due to an increase in the homeless youth population. There has been communication about federal funding coming down the pipeline to address youth homelessness this fall.
New funds have been secured through Pandemic TANF that will serve families. 417 supporting housing units have been approved, many are in the development phase or under construction now. Partners for Home has been unwavering in their pursuit of acquiring apartments, partnerships with developers, and out-of-the-box strategies that is advancing the overall goal of ending homelessness. Sending much gratitude and appreciation to you all.
