Atlanta's 405 Cooper Street Project: A Quick Delivery Update

The two-acre lot at 405 Cooper Street will be transformed into affordable housing apartments for individuals experiencing homelessness. City leaders broke ground on the 100-unit complex in June 2025, marking a significant milestone in Atlanta's fight against homelessness. Plans for the facility include on-site case management, mental health services, substance abuse counseling, and job training programs.

The project represents the city's third major rapid rehousing initiative, following The Melody in Downtown, which utilized repurposed shipping containers to create 40 studio units with bathrooms and kitchenettes. And, The Ralph David House, located off Moreland Ave, a former motel now 56-unit studio apartment.

This initiative is a direct outcome of Mayor Andre Dickens' executive order to address homelessness. His commitment to create 20,000 affordable housing units in Atlanta by 2030. This project represents a tremendous step towards fulfilling that promise.
