2021 Year-End Review

It was this time last year when we found out we were expecting TWINS. My emotions were everywhere; excited, afraid, confused, amused (that the universe obviously has a sense of humor), and unaware of how I was going to navigate the year. I had an 11 month old in tow, a demanding pregnancy, a homeschooled teen (due to covid), and a considerate spouse trying to take as much off my plate as he could. To say I was "overwhelmed" is an understatement, but I gathered myself and got back to work.

The first 6 months of the year were centered around equipping individuals without shelter with critical supplies to stay safe. Once a month, we donated prevention supplies, hygiene kits, and cleaning materials to local shelters and outreach programs.

The twins arrived in June; I went on maternity leave for the next 3 months. When I returned in the fall; the team was planning our first in-person event since the 2020 shutdowns. We hosted a Thanksgiving outreach, participated in a Holiday Market, and ended the year with our annual Christmas outreach. Fourth quarter was robust; filled with laughter, joy, and excitement to reconnect with the community.

The success of the organization has always been a collective effort. I thank all of the volunteers who assisted with monthly shelter drop-offs, our supporters who ensured the supply list was in overflow, and our partners who donated supplies and financial gifts to keep our community healthy and safe.

I'm looking forward to the many things unfolding in 2022. Here's to the New Year!

With gratitude,

Ericka Cameron-Carr
